AH! George R.R. Martin. The BF and I exchanged book lists (nerd alert, for sure). I gave him 5 suggestions, and vice versa, and one of his was Game of Thrones, and he got all horny about it. I feel you on Picard. The first guy to give me “a funny feeling I didn’t quite understand” was Warren Beatty in the Dick Tracy movie (which now kind of disturbs me). To me, he is the only man who will ever look good (sort of good?) in a yellow trenchcoat. Good to know that we both had a thing for the old dudes.
