First things first… the TMI Thursday ”Post Secret Style” contest from yesterday has turned into so much more than some Firefly Vodka swag. I can’t believe how many I’ve received- some hilarious, some tragic, all brave and kickass entries that are guaranteed to move you in some way.

Yes, I am going to post ALL of them. I might have to spread this over a couple weeks so we can really enjoy them all- I want everyone who sent one in to be able to see the commentary it receives. I promise to email you and let you know when it’s going up, so if you used the Top Secret anonymous email account to send it in (Gmail, username tmithursday, password tmit1234), then make sure to check back- I’ll respond to that email chain. Please continue to send them in- I promise every last one WILL be posted!

I’m pretty sure tomorrow is going to be my favorite post of all time. Which is hilarious, because I had almost nothing to do with it (except for my own anonymous entry…)

Moving on!

This weekend I was lucky enough to have my Carolina girls in town, as KBo was running the Marine Corps Marathon (why yes, she DID rock it) and Meredith came up from the Cack to help me cheer her on.

We’ve all been close for half a decade now, and suddenly, all three of us are no longer carefree 21 year olds trying to get each other home safely from the bars… we’re staring our futures in the face. And somehow, each one of us has ended up making a home with a good man, and a few fur babies.

These chicas knew me at a time when there was a lot more piss and vinegar in me; when the “Masshole” was more of a truism than a joke. Over the years, we’ve watched Kbo’s relationship stand trial through a tour in Iraq and a semester in Australia. We spent years trying to pull Mere out of a bad relationship, only to have the perfect man swoop in and make her forget the jerk in a matter of weeks. Now, we’re planning her wedding while she coos at babies on the street.

It will be my very first wedding I’m actually in since I was a 5 year old flower girl, and from what y’all tell me, it’s going to be the first in a SLEW of them over the next couple years…

Bring it on.

Oh, how things change… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

umm i adore cocker spaniels and that pic is priceless

I wanted to squish its face.

2 Lemmonex October 28, 2009 at 7:56 am

Did you see any bloody nips at the finish line? The nipple carnage is my favorite part of marathons.

Nothing! No bloody nips, no vomiting, no defecating! We were kinda far, though.

3 Vie October 28, 2009 at 8:09 am

That is awesome. Your friend rocks. I will never be that hard core. Ever.

Also – I can’t wait to see the postcards.

Trust me… they’re awesome.

4 Maxie October 28, 2009 at 8:26 am

Oh I just don’t understand running, but more power too her.

Love the boots!

They are bad ass, my love.

5 HannahBlue October 28, 2009 at 8:39 am

Awww…bulldog puppy! SO cute!! Those are some nice boots too btw! :)

Why yes, they are. ;-)

6 moooooog35 October 28, 2009 at 8:47 am

At least B will get to nail someone in the wedding party.

I’m with Maxie, though. I don’t understand running even a little.

I hate walking to my car.

She is insane, in the best way possible.

7 Suburban Sweetheart October 28, 2009 at 8:48 am

Well, Lexa’s comment is my favorite. Ever. I’m not even going to bother with anything clever. Just go read that one again.

She is a good egg, that one.

8 Ela October 28, 2009 at 8:54 am

Is it bad that I love you “I can’t find Kbo at the finish” face? I and I love your bootage. You deserve the best bday pressies – from others and yourself :)

I was so sad! I wanted to be there when she crossed the line.

9 Melissa October 28, 2009 at 8:54 am

Ooooh, I can’t wait to read these!! :)

They are truly amazing.

10 Ed Adams October 28, 2009 at 8:57 am

Marathons are for laziness quiters.

I’m a laziness WINNER!

You and me both, darlin.

11 Kim October 28, 2009 at 9:00 am

I haven’t been in a wedding (other than my own) since I was a flower girl either. I keep waiting for it to happen, but it never does.

Well, I’m told it’s rather expensive… at least you’re saving those dollah bills!

12 Lauren October 28, 2009 at 9:02 am

LOVE the boots, they are fabulous and I strongly believe in buying yourself birthday presents!

wow, marine corps marathon, that is awesome, your friend rocks!

She really, really does!

13 Marie October 28, 2009 at 9:03 am

Oh yeah, those weddings will roll in one by one. Just you wait. AND THEN IT NEVER ENDS. Why? Because then they have babies.

Lovely pictures lady!

I’m scared but excited. Not for the babies, though… yuck.

14 Jackie October 28, 2009 at 9:05 am

omg, I have your boots!! They’re my fave! And bull dog puppies are the best.

I am in love… with the boots AND the puppy. ;-)

15 Erin October 28, 2009 at 9:07 am

Love your boots! They are adorable!

Thanks love!

16 Lexi October 28, 2009 at 9:08 am

Um, where are your cute boots from? I just bought some that are eerily similar!

They’re Steve Madden Intyce, and they are AMAZING.

17 Stoneskin October 28, 2009 at 9:11 am

But what were the babies doing in the street? Wearing fur? Fur babies?

Puppies and kittens, oh my!

18 Jules October 28, 2009 at 9:17 am

Cool pics and cooler boots! Hanging out with friends who know you best is BY far the best!!!!

So very true.

19 Cheddar October 28, 2009 at 9:21 am

I wholeheartedly believe in self-gifting on every birthday (which sounds vaguely dirty). Who else could get you a better gift? Also your friend is awesome, I wish I were that badass. And I’m pretty sure my friends wished there was a bar nearby while cheering me on at my triathlon.

But at least they came. We, um, might have had flasks, too…

20 Daffy October 28, 2009 at 9:24 am

Nikon D40? I’m beyond jealous now… I may have to stop following… I wanna smash my computer to smitherines…so not cool… I like my computer (today anyway).

Haha, I’m lucky… B is a GREAT birthday gifter.

21 MJ October 28, 2009 at 9:37 am

How exciting! The wedding of course…though I’m sure TMI Thursday will be great too.

That much I promise.

22 English Rose October 28, 2009 at 9:39 am

What’s wrong with buying yourself birthday presents? I do it all the time. In fact, why confine it to birthdays? I may start buying myself UnBirthday presents, a la the disney Alice in Wonderland. That way you get to buy yourself 364 a year, instead of just one :)

Love the boots

x

You, my dear, are a GENIUS.

23 Kellie October 28, 2009 at 9:47 am

I think that guy is literally eating his bulldog puppy! Puppy abuse!!! :)

Love the bday boots! And I can’t wait for tomorrow! Yippee!

I tried to eat it, too.

He looked at me a little funny.

24 Adrienzgirl October 28, 2009 at 9:51 am

Aww….look LiLu is getting all growed up! Ain’t that a freaking sweet bitch? You know I kid! Love you! And soon, you will know what it is like to be me…staring at 40. Well, you know in a couple of years. I am not happy about it.

40 is the new 25. ;-)

Adrienzgirl Reply:

Good then in three years I’ll be 25. Freakin’ sweet! That makes me 22! Oh good Lord, I don’t think I would live through another run in my 20’s, for real, for real!

25 Summer October 28, 2009 at 9:53 am

OMG. I love the birthday boots!!!

ME TOO.

26 Liebchen October 28, 2009 at 10:04 am

I’m loving those boots! And the fact that you guys went out to support her in the marathon. Hearing people cheer your name is one of the best feelings.

Oh, we cheered. I am a big ole loud mouth when I want to be.

27 Lee October 28, 2009 at 10:09 am

Love the puppy and love the boots!

28 Martha at A Sense of Humor is Essential October 28, 2009 at 10:17 am

Looking your lives right in the face, your first wedding, Cool.
LiLu = True Blue friend, your photo should be in the dictionary for this.
Thanks for the cute photos, ooooh puppies!!!

29 MinD October 28, 2009 at 10:19 am

Awwww. Reminds me of me and some of my college friends. I miss them. =( I’m the Carolina girl now… And they’re in NYC and PA.

30 Captain Dumbass October 28, 2009 at 10:24 am

Aside from sleeping, I can’t think of much I’d want to do five hours straight.

Hawt boots.

31 Brooke October 28, 2009 at 10:35 am

I know the feeling! I was in my first wedding (besides being a flower girl) a week and a half ago. We’re grown ups! SCARY ;)

32 Kris October 28, 2009 at 10:40 am

BOOTS!!!

Sorry… Got a bit excited… I just bought myself a sassy pair so I understand.

33 Nikki October 28, 2009 at 10:42 am

Um…I’m wearing those exact boots as I type. Naked..but that’s besides the point.

34 zipcode October 28, 2009 at 11:04 am

ohh bulldog puppy pic yay — you could always say Murray bought you the boots for your birthday

35 f.B October 28, 2009 at 11:05 am

I haven’t been to a wedding in– I can’t even remember when. Where is the love people? Where is the love?

36 eric October 28, 2009 at 11:12 am

I’m not sure if people were meant to run for 27 miles. If something was chasing me that far and I couldn’t fight it off, well I guess I’d just be dead then…

But it’s cool your friends can do that.

37 Megan October 28, 2009 at 11:14 am

Love all of the pictures!

38 Elizabeth Marie October 28, 2009 at 11:19 am

Look at you my little photog in her BOOTS!!!!! AHHH I love them! Tell me more, like where can I get some? Kthx.

Love friends like that…here’s to being a bridesmaid a million times, it’s a good time, if there’s an open bar.

39 Ams October 28, 2009 at 11:22 am

Aw, such a good time had by all. I want to be carefree and 21 again and not dealing with an asshole of an ex-husband.
Of course, why cry over the past – look at all the good things to come for you and your friends!
Can’t wait to see your post tomorrow! woot!

40 Hip Hop Hippie October 28, 2009 at 11:23 am

I love the pics! And those boots are zummy! And guuurl, get ready for the onslaught of weddings is right. I’m hunting for a treasure chest to pay for all of my bridesmaids dresses. It’s outrageous. I wish I could just wear the same one, over and over and over again.

41 Bridget October 28, 2009 at 11:24 am

My favorite part of this post was piecing together your entire day from the pictures and awesomely awesome picture captions. BULLDOG PUPPY NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!!!!

42 Alice October 28, 2009 at 11:33 am

oh god, i love my nikon d40. to lickable levels.

43 k8 October 28, 2009 at 11:36 am

I’m sticking with the “My boobs are too big to run” excuse.

44 shine October 28, 2009 at 11:41 am

I think my nipples are chaffed just from looking at all that running.

45 Steam Me up, Kid October 28, 2009 at 11:53 am

Sometimes when I’m on the toilet, I run a comb through my bush, singing “My little ponyyy, My little ponyyy, I love to brush your pretty mane…”

That’s my post secret entry. Keep it anonymous, between you and me. Cause that’s kinda embarrassing.

46 m October 28, 2009 at 12:00 pm

your boots are so cute, i just want to eat them up! nom nom nom

47 Lollygagger October 28, 2009 at 12:14 pm

Girlfriends are the bestest thing ever! Love the photos, and um those boots = kick ass. Giddy up!

48 Ms. Terri October 28, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Awww, that fugly dog looks kinda like my dog!

49 Kristin October 28, 2009 at 12:40 pm

Awww look at you! Wanting to make me cry here. Thanks to all for the sweet/sort of sweet comments :) I know we’re crazy for doing it, but it really does feel pretty great to cross the finish line…

Yes, nipple chafage is no joke. Good thing my boobs are too small to bother with chafing….ahh the benefits of being an A cup!

You rock for coming out to cheer us on, um, seriously. And for the record….it didn’t take me 5 hours to finish! (But pretty damn close. Hey, seconds count in these things.)

Lub you!!!

50 carissajaded October 28, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Looks like you had a great weekend! and I cannot wait to see your post tomorrow!

51 mandy October 28, 2009 at 1:21 pm

Friendships like that are the best and so special. It looks like you had a fabulous weekend (and some great fall foliage). Those boots are fabulous!

52 Tara October 28, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Love the pics! And although this has absolutely zero to do with your post, I had to share this with you. Fugly? I think so!

http://www.fupenguin.com/2009/09/i-guess-any-asshole-gets-holiday-now.html

53 BigMamaCass October 28, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Do you think the people running next to the kilt guy kept hearing *smack* *smack* *smack* *smack* *smack* *smack* with each step?? Just wondering.

54 Tee aka The Diva's Thoughts October 28, 2009 at 2:07 pm

YAAAAAYYY!!!!!!

i look so fat in that pic! i am not quite that fat!! haaahhaaa :) love the pics and love you more!!

62 Chelle B. October 28, 2009 at 7:19 pm

So you’re NOT really a 50 year old fat guy blogging from his mom’s basement? I totally lost a bet with Moooooooooog.

Just kidding! Great pics. Now I want that camera. :)

63 Jennifer - Somewhere In Between October 28, 2009 at 7:34 pm

AH! Boyfriend so has the Charlie beard, too!! It’s kind of amazing!

I wish I had a good TMI that I could fit into a creatively snarky post secret-esque card…maybe I’ll create some shennanigans tonight so I can enter.

PS-I envy your girl, Kbo! No matter how many times I’ve said I’ll train for a marathon, I usually punk out mid way and trade my sneakers for Snickers (or a Milky Way, really, cause I can’t handle the nuts {TWSS}, but it doesn’t have the same ring as sneakers/snickers…)

Kristin Reply:

You can do it girl! I punked out on training before actually completing it too, you just gotta stick with it :) It really sucks actually doing it, but the satisfaction afterwards is soooo worth it! (That’s what she said.)

64 AnnQ October 28, 2009 at 8:57 pm

While all those pictures are great, I go absolutely NUTS for Bulldog Puppies!!!!!

65 Elizabeth October 28, 2009 at 10:05 pm

I can’t wait to read all the TMI posts–it’s going to be fabulous. Also, I LOVE your boots–they’re great!

66 a!kO October 28, 2009 at 10:19 pm

Oooo pics, I love pics. :D Me love them boots too…lucky girl ;) Did you run the marathon too?? And I want a camera! :P

67 Connie October 29, 2009 at 12:57 am

Looks like you all had a great day to watch other people run! I don’t get running either, but congrats to your friend for giving you all the excuse to get together. oh, and yay for fur babies! I’m buried under 3 snuggley kittens right now – wrestling claws in my neck, fingers nibbled, and too much help typing – perfect!!

68 Witless Fool October 29, 2009 at 3:35 am

Wow, gorgeous pics!

69 JennyMac October 29, 2009 at 4:44 am

Great photo montage…and love your birthday boots you sassy minx.

70 K @ Blog Goggles October 29, 2009 at 5:04 am

Boo this growing up crap.

Wait, is that totally out of the spirit of this post? Sorry, I don’t feel like paying bills or cleaning, so I’m just reverting.

Other than that, your friends seem awesome. And I’m totally digging B’s beard.

71 Olivia Rae October 29, 2009 at 5:53 am

you are SO cute and endearing! honestly, i understand why people love you so much- i feel like i know you!!! your life looks so fun- and the view from b’s office is incredible!! xoxo

73 Kristin October 29, 2009 at 9:17 am

Get ready lady. At this stage in your life you will be in weddings GALORE! I’m closing in on close to the end I think…but it’s been ragin’ busy few years! Sorry I’ve been MIA this week. I’ve missed your dirty little blog face. : )

74 Stephanie October 29, 2009 at 10:23 am

LOVE your boots! I’m obsessed myself and kind of want some more. No, I NEED more boots. It’s definitely a need. I might die without them. I’m sure you understand.

75 Lucy October 29, 2009 at 2:17 pm
