I LOVE city living as well! But there are definitely times when I encounter horrible-smelling homeless people or have disatrous public transportation experiences that make me think “Why do I love living here again?” =p

In DC landlord has 45 days to return your deposit or 30 days from notice that there are damages. If he doesn’t then sue him in small claims court which is very tenant friendly. Then tell him if he doesn’t pay up pronto you will a) be informing his mortgagor of his default b) filing a lien on the apartment (if it is a condo) or building if he owns the whole thing and c) commencing foreclosure proceedings to collect the money he owes. You will get your money.

Girl, I feel your pain. When I lived in Brooklyn, I was the only white chick within a 100 block radius in a neighborhood filled with Latinos. I’ve never heard more disgusting slurping noises in my life. I do not miss being called “Mami” every day, that’s for sure.

The slurping noise is the WORST. Like, can I get you a straw?!

Must admit I live city living too, although perhaps I cheat a little by living in the suburbs! At least that way I get the best of both worlds I guess. But I can’t help but love being near shops, bars, clubs, work etc.

I’ll retire to the countryside though !

It seems like that’s the way to do it.
