That’s right, folks. Thanks to the help of some very, very beautiful people on Saturday, I am beyond ecstatic to say, WE’RE ALL IN!

B is one of those people who, for some strange reason, hates living out of boxes and suitcases. As a lifelong loyal member of Procrastinators Unanonymous- because everyone knows you’re a fucking procrastinator because they can tell that you never do anything on time- this whole “get things done ahead of time when able, and then complete tasks as soon as possible” thing is a seriously foreign concept to me. I mean, unpacking is so… annoying. Wouldn’t it be so much nicer to just sit on the couch and stare at the TV and wish the cable guy would come while sipping cheap wine from a Yahtzee shaker?
No?
Okay. (Sigh.)
So, we unpacked. We unpacked EVERYTHING. Yesterday. The day after we moved in.
Who the fuck AM I, y’all. For reals.
And I hate (HATE) to admit it… but he is right. (You’ve got it in writing, now, babe. Enjoy it…. just this once.)
Our apartment? Is a little fucking slice of heaven.
I woke up this morning in our enormous bedroom, with our rent-included air conditioning wafting over me. I got out of the bed without climbing over B. I just… got out. (Seriously… this is novel.)
I then strolled into my WALK IN CLOSET, and chose my outfit while being able to see every piece of clothing that I own. Hanging. (Again… when you’ve been living out of two closets and a dresser for a year? NOVEL.)
I took a hot shower and did my hair and make up in our insanely well-lit bathroom. (When I got to work today? My face actually looked normal for once, and I did not have to wipe off half my make up because I couldn’t see how garish it was at home. No more looking like a tranny hooker going in for Glamour Shots at 8 am! Woot!)
I then sauntered into our living room, where we played Wii last night (living rooms come in SQUARE now?! Who knew!) with B’s best friend… who now lives down the hall from us.
At the far side of our enormous apartment, I got an eyeful of the morning light washing over the National Cathedral. Because, of course, our new SUNROOM NOOK overlooks it. Last night? The sunset? Yeah. It blew my mind. It’s almost enough to make me want to go to church.
(Nahhhhhhhhhh.)
Then walked through our dining room…
Into the kitchen, all the while reveling in the fact that WE NOW HAVE ROOMS. (Anyone who saw the old place? Knows this this also = FUCKING NOVEL.)
I fed the kitties (don’t worry, I still got cat food juice in my eye while doing it. But the familiarity of it was almost comforting… what?)
I kissed the man I love goodbye, and walked a gorgeous and silent two miles down 18th street to my office.
I am in love, not lust, with an apartment.
I think we’ll name it George.

My fiance is the same way. I have been in Lithuania for almost 6 months, and I still have all my crap in a suitcase. He has his stuff nicely folded on shelves, and his shoes are all lined up against the wall. I’m the same way at home. I just continuously throw suitcases in my closet, and every once and awhile, a shirt might make its way back onto a hanger. Not often though. It drives V crazy. Oh well-I’m perfect in every other way (suuure)!

When we moved out of our 90sq ft room to whole house my favorite thing was being able to step out of bed rather than crawl over someone! Also making the bed is almost enjoyable since I don’t have to do that whole sit on the bed and realize I’m sitting on the bottom sheet so have to hop until I get enough to stretch over! Ya don’t miss that one bit!

I think that seeing all your stuff organized and all put away in a place that you love to call home, is one of the best, pretty much orgasmic, feelings that you can get! Not looking like a Glamour Shots tranny hooker is almost as good, almost… I so forgot about that, now I am having flashbacks to old Glamour Shots pics of me in a slutty/cool biker jacket -nice!
So glad that you got all moved in so smooth and quick! I still have unpacked boxes from moving out of my parents house twelve years ago sitting in my garage somewhere. B is awesome!

Hurray! Your apartment looks gorgeous. I must admit that I am super jealous of these photos! I just moved into my new apt and except for my bed, tv and bathroom, the apt is totally empty. *le sigh* I guess I will have to live vicariously through you and pretend like my apt looks half as good as yours :0)
It took a couple upgrades to get where we are now, and I am still amazed at how grown-uppy it is. You’ll get there!

Congratulations on the elbow room AND the unpacked boxes. We still have boxes in the garage from moving in fifteen years ago. Some of them have three pens and a bottle cap in them, because my husband packed them.
