I Am A Mama. For Reals This Time.

by LiLu on April 29, 2009

in B, WE might be clinical, aminamals, funnies, how jealous are you right now?

I am also an idiot.

Correction: B is an idiot. For finally giving in to all my fugly-cuddly-wuddly aminamal whims

And for being willing to forget just how much he enjoys breathing, and give these two hooligans a whirl.

Do we need a kitten? No, not at all. Do we need TWO?? Most decidedly not. But, um, well… how do you choose?

Let’s face it. After he admitted that maybe, just maybe we could get ONE it was sort of a done deal. Because I don’t do anything half-assed.

I knew I had to have the Siamese boy the second I saw him, and B fell for the little girl wearing a tuxedo. You’d never know they’re brother and sister, except how they match in kyootness.

So we brought them home last night… and this happened.

B: What are you going to name yours?LiLu: I dunno. I like when people give animals real people names, like… hmm… “Stanley,” or “Murray”.

B: Sure, that works. He is kind of like a nerdy white guy anyway.

LiLu: What about you? What are you going to call that sweet little girl?

B: Hmmmm… “Axe Murderer.” Yeah, I like that.

LiLu: [laughing] You’re not serious.

B: Is that a challenge?? You said I can call her anything I want!

LiLu: Oh, you can, darling. You’re willing to get me kittehs, you can name it “Diarrhea” if you want.

Proof positive:

So, um… who wants to come over and play with this little girl?

I promise she’s not half as tough as her name.

Just don’t call her “Axe” for short… it’s “Murderer,” apparently.

Your little “hooligans” are the cutest kittens I’ve ever seen! I recently met a “Bob” the cat. I too think people names on cats are cool. Murray makes me think of Flight of the Conchords.

2 HannahBlue April 29, 2009 at 11:59 am

Yay! Congrats on finally joining the proud “fur parents club”
They are beyond adorable!

You could name the female Harriet. Y’know the suspected “ax murderer” from the funny movie “So I married an ax murderer”.

Then again, people might think you guys are really big fans of Harriet the Spy. LOL

3 moooooog35 April 29, 2009 at 11:59 am

Just think, next time you feel like having Chinese food, you’ve got all your ingredients in-house!

Great.

Now I want Chinese food.

4 Penny April 29, 2009 at 12:03 pm

They are so freaking cute! You’re very lucky.

Your boyfriend is officially a gazillion times better than mine, because he would only let me get one kitten.

5 PQ April 29, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Awww…I can’t wait to meet your kitties!!!

Congrats :)

6 nuttycow April 29, 2009 at 12:05 pm

Very very cute. Axe, sorry, Murderer, is very playful (although I think that’s more to do with her being teased with that piece of string)

Keep us updated!

7 Shannon April 29, 2009 at 12:13 pm

I want KITTTTEHHSSS

8 Fearless in Toronto April 29, 2009 at 12:14 pm

I can’t believe you didn’t name one of them Fearless. You and B are off my Christmas Card list.

9 hannahjustbreathe April 29, 2009 at 12:15 pm

They’re so cute!! Two kittens…ahhhh, what fun. I’m jealous. My cat is nearly three years old, and he’s way past the point of chasing after string or cords (p.s. is that a cord for your computer that B is playing with? awesome).

You’ll have to keep posting pictures as they get bigger! I love it when kittens hit that awkward, lanky 4-6 month phase.

10 Molly April 29, 2009 at 12:16 pm

They are waaaaay too cute. And I just have to say. When an ex and I used to talk about baby names (which yes, ridic), he would always say he’d name a son axe murderer…or shotgon. oh lord…

11 Malnurtured Snay April 29, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Awww.

Yeah, you’ve got to get two: they keep each other company. I adopted my cats two weeks apart, Guy (the tuxedo) was two years old, Tippy was about six weeks. Guy did a lot of hissing at first, but they mostly get along now (ten years later). Guy’s big and fat now, but he still claws my toes when my feet dangle off my futon, Tippy’s scared to death of the ceiling fan, and still a remakably tiny cat.

Kittens are a lot of fun, but a lot of headache. Guy used to enjoy jumping to free-hanging shelves, and I’d come home to find him angry with me and a shelf down on the floor, with its contents scattered everywhere. Stupid cat.

Have fun spending $$$ on cat litter, though. If you don’t already have a preferred brand, PetSmart has a house brand I’ve used for years and years. It’s about $10 for a 30-lbs bucket and it does the job (I go through a bucket every three weeks, give or take).

12 Mike April 29, 2009 at 12:17 pm

I wanted to get a cat.

not as a pet for me, but for my dog.

Except i’d be feeding it, cleaning it’s litter box and taking it for shots.

Ok well the dog would be cleaning the litter box.

And I wouldn’t have to feed the dog as much.

Maybe I should man up with some claritin and get a kitten.

I’m not inviting mooog over if I do, fucking chinese food eating ass.

13 Lemmonex April 29, 2009 at 12:19 pm

They are pretty freaking adorable. If this turns in to a cat blog, though, I quit. The Cathy comics are next.

14 **Liz** April 29, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Awww you have fur babies.

The best kind!

15 Malnurtured Snay April 29, 2009 at 12:21 pm

Is that an iPod cord B is using to taunt Ax? Because my cats both attack that thing like it’s nobody’s business. One day I won’t be able to recharge my iPod because they’ll have chewed it to a nub.

If this becomes a cat blog? I’ll comment more.

16 Del-V April 29, 2009 at 12:21 pm

Do you know that Sarah McLaughlin SPCA commercial when they show all the kittens and puppies at the pound while they play that sad song playing in the background? I see it got to you also. I’m glad you got two because those little critters need homes.

17 Deutlich April 29, 2009 at 12:23 pm

OMG I LOVE THEM THEY ARE SO CUUUUUTTTEEE!! AAHH!!!

i wanna see ‘em! i wanna see ‘em!!!!

18 FallenAngel915 April 29, 2009 at 12:23 pm

they are adorable! thanks for posting this; i needed a dose of cute for having to get up at the asscrack of dawn!

19 Christy April 29, 2009 at 12:27 pm

Oh they’re both really cute. Love kittens! And Axe? Seriously? haha!

20 peterdewolf April 29, 2009 at 12:28 pm

I can almost feel sneezes coming on just from looking at this, but I gotta say they are really cute.

I had a grown-up version of Axe Murderer when I was little.

21 failnomore April 29, 2009 at 12:29 pm

They are SO CUTE. I’m jealous. My cat is just a fat ass….

22 jen - tsk April 29, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Awwww, how cewwwwwwwwwwt!!! I have a cat…his name is Tatty (although my previous cat was called Barnaby and I actually wanted to call the new (stray) one Cindy (or Barbara Streisand) – I’m definitely into pets with human names! If I get another I’m going to call her Madonna – or vadge for short!)…anyhoo, Tatty has decided he’s lonely and yesterday got himself some friends…FLEAS!!!! AHHHHH! I have no idea what I’m dealing with here!! x

23 Mb April 29, 2009 at 12:35 pm

I wish you luck, my dear cause after my attempt to own a cat I’m done.

24 ♥Caroline♥ April 29, 2009 at 12:36 pm

SOOOOOO super cute!!

I wish i could have kitties but my allergies say no, no!!

Congrats on your fur babies!

25 Cameron April 29, 2009 at 12:42 pm

Great name…although I would have gone with a serial killer name like “Jeffrey Dahmer”

26 pithycomments April 29, 2009 at 12:43 pm

kittehs!!! This is not helping my desire to get a second kitteh. They are adorable!

You might want to consider a Litter Maid. You never have to scoopy the poopy, just take out a lil’ container. It’s awesome.

27 PorkStar April 29, 2009 at 12:47 pm

aww my goodness they are so adoooorable. Congrats you guys!

28 Life is Wonderful April 29, 2009 at 12:47 pm

They make these laser pointers for cat…I guess you could use any laser pointer(although, I think the ones made specifically for cats aren’t as dangerous, I guess the beam is lighter or something) …anyway, they say it is healthy for cats because it gives them excercise and helps them maintain a healthy weight. I got mine at Wal-Mart and my cat LOVES chasing it!

29 Megan April 29, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Oh my gosh, they’re adorable! In fact, I just text my husband and said that I want a kitten or a puppy of our own.

30 Ben April 29, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Jason’s suggestions for naming Calvin when we first got him:

1) Academy-award winning actress Susan Sarandon.

2) Supreme Puppy of the Galactic Space Armada.

3) Thor.

4) A series of alien-like clicks that I’m not sure how to type.

It’s a boy thing…

31 Jessica April 29, 2009 at 12:53 pm

Congratulations!! They are so cute – I can’t stand it! I wish I could see all the pics. I’m missing two of them. I don’t know why, but I tend to not be able to see images on your site. Anyway, of what I can see of those cute babies – I totally adore. The best thing about kittens is that you can blow raspberries into those cute round bellies. Ptttttth! By the way, if you name the girl Axe Murderer, you can call her Axie for short!:):)

32 Bethie April 29, 2009 at 12:53 pm

You are gonna love your little boogers and be entertained as hell! Yay!!!

33 Beach Bum April 29, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Sooooo freaking cute!!! I’ll check at home to see any of Lucas toys that he has ignored and bring over to you.

I gave a bunch away not long ago, but should still have others in the house (turns out he is very picky about his toys).

34 notyourplainjane April 29, 2009 at 12:56 pm

So Cute!!! I kind of want to eat them!! Axe M. You know you could flip her name and call er M. Axe. and make it Maxie! That’s way more furry adorable than Axe Murderer! :)

35 Dmbosstone April 29, 2009 at 1:00 pm

Congrats on the kittens- I’m sure this will be a source of much enjoyment and will inspire many posts!

So cute!

36 Alice April 29, 2009 at 1:04 pm

i am reduced to a number of squealy garbled noises over here. LOVE KITTEHS. i also have a very loudly purring 1-yr old siamese on my lap as i type this :-)

if murray grows up to be “talky,” as siamese are prone to do, we should get webcams and let our cats chat with each other.

37 SoMi's Nilsa April 29, 2009 at 1:06 pm

We so can’t be friends any more. I am 100% against naming pets after people names. Because what do you do when your cat is named after your mom’s best friend? I mean, that’s just not right. You’re so fired.

38 inkpuddle April 29, 2009 at 1:09 pm

Eeeeh, finally! So you weren’t kidding, then. They are precious! A pair of kittens is always better than one, anyway – plus, they’re like your own little Comedy Central. (I’m actually leaving in a second to go pick up two myself…now I feel like a poser!).

Enjoy the babies!

39 prettylittletangents April 29, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Ka-yoooot! Yay, I’m so happy you have culprits of your own now. I’m with you on the people names for animals. My precious bundle of joy is named Frank. The nicknames don’t stop: Frank the Tank, Frankser the Gangster, Cranky Franky. Enjoy, my dear!

40 shakeitgood April 29, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Those are the cutest kittens!! Makes me want one of my own.

41 SassyLittleGinger April 29, 2009 at 1:20 pm

i hate cats but love kittens…. how freakin cuuuuuuuuuute!

you should name one toonces, because that would be awesome.

are they gonna become LOLcats?

42 Lexilooo April 29, 2009 at 1:26 pm

cute! where did you adopt them from?

43 liferehab April 29, 2009 at 1:29 pm

They’re so cute!!! I’m jealous!

44 Zipcode April 29, 2009 at 1:31 pm

YAY for kittehs — if you have any kitten questions (I used to work at a vet) let me know.

They are adorable, love KITTENS

45 Gladys April 29, 2009 at 1:35 pm

What is it with everyone getting new pussies? I don’t have an old pussy much less a new pussy.

Hey why is everyone giggling like 13 year old boys.

You have such cute pussies. I bet Boyfriend likes that you now have two pussies. I mean so much more fun playing with two rather than just one and they can keep each other company.

WHAT? why is everyone giggling?

46 MerEdith April 29, 2009 at 1:35 pm

They are adorable! Two are definitely better than one. I got my boyfriend two for Christmas. One was black, Smokey, and his sister was black and white, she had a white mask on her face…so she is Bandit (she was originally a he, according to the people we got them from). I save the people names for Dogs and “fun” names for the cats.

47 A Super Girl April 29, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Ohhhh, too cute!!!

48 lisa @ seriously. April 29, 2009 at 1:37 pm

OH. MY. GAWD. THE. CUTENESS. I saw this first thing in the morning and nothing makes a day good like pictures of little furry babies!!!

49 Matt April 29, 2009 at 1:38 pm

They look like trouble to me.

50 Kylie April 29, 2009 at 1:38 pm

So cute! Our last addition was two little 5 week old brothers. There are still some days, almost 9 months later, that we still wanna kill ‘em! JK But they are so much fun to have 2 at the same time. I can tell you from experience it’s way better than just 1 at a time. Have tons of fun!!

51 Svaha April 29, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Kittens are DEFINITELY better in twos. Your sanity may suffer somewhat but the furniture, fixtures, things living on shelves will have slightly longer lives as two kittens tend to play with each other as opposed to one bored one trying to play with everything you own.

And the Seal Point is hella cute.

52 rondamarie April 29, 2009 at 1:40 pm

Soooooo cute! Congrats Mama!

53 The Northerner April 29, 2009 at 1:43 pm

OMG they are soooo cute! And I don’t even like cats! Good luck!

54 Fizzgig April 29, 2009 at 1:45 pm

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!! My heart went a pitter patter the way most girls do when they see a baby.

Love the babies! Who needs two cats? Well I have a sign in my house that says “cats are like potato chips you can’t have just one”

While it’s tacky, it’s true! Enjoy the cuddly kittehs!!!!!! I wanna pinch their little cheeks and kiss their noses!

55 Just A Girl April 29, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I’m just allergic enough to cats that I can play with them at other people’s houses, but I couldn’t have the fur all over my own. But I sure do miss my ex’s cat. My big Moose-kitty.

Can I just come snuggle with yours sometimes? They’re adoooorable.

56 los_tartist April 29, 2009 at 1:51 pm

ohmigawd! *mouth agape with awe at the cute* Kittens!!!! YAAAAAYYYYY! This post makes me want to go chase butterflies and cuddle murderers.

57 flipflops April 29, 2009 at 1:58 pm

If I ever have twins, I’m totally naming them Murderer and Murray.

And, my heart just melted into a million little pieces of cuteness overload. I want!

58 Amber April 29, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Ahhhh!!! Those kitties are SOOOO cute! Omg, I can’t stop staring at the pictures of them.

I LOVE kittens. I still LOVE my kitty even though he’s all grown up now, I consider him a kitten still :-) I will have to get him another friend soon I think!

59 Kate Coveny Hood April 29, 2009 at 2:06 pm

They are precious! Since I refuse to ever be pregnant again – I settle for kitten and puppy longings.

60 Aritza, Goddess of .. April 29, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Awww, these little furballs are just adorable!! and I don’t even like cats!

Cuteness overload ! kitties !

61 shine April 29, 2009 at 2:09 pm

They are really cute.

But I’m not yet convinced that cats don’t try to suck out your soul through your asshole while you’re sleeping. So there’s that to think about.

62 BeckEye April 29, 2009 at 2:11 pm

Please, oh please don’t become one of those cat bloggers.

Also, be careful that those little buggers don’t steal your breath while you’re sleeping.

63 Shelly April 29, 2009 at 2:11 pm

OMG SOOOO CUTE! How can anyone not love them??? I can’t wait to hear the blog after the first time you take them to the vet and they ask her name!!!

People names are cute! I like liquor names for dogs, Bacardi, Killigan, Tequila….

Also Mike’s post killed me. The dog would clean the litter box. The thought grossed me out and yet made me laugh at the same time! Good luck with the kittehs!

Oh and you can be like Caitlin and Zach and potty train them so no litter required!

64 floreta April 29, 2009 at 2:12 pm

soooo adorably cute.
congratulations :)

65 Marie April 29, 2009 at 2:24 pm

Awwwwww! So cute!

So “Axe Murderer”? Really?

66 JM April 29, 2009 at 2:24 pm

so cute!

67 Julie April 29, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Yay for fun fuzzy kittens! I’m tempted to jump on a plane right now and come play with your whole family. As soon as they become cats I’ll just be coming for you and B.

68 brookem April 29, 2009 at 2:27 pm

oh my god. i can’t deal.

69 LiLu April 29, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Cottage Cheese: Me too! That’s why it’s perfect. If only he had a NZ accent!

HannahBlue: Oooo… I like Harriet! I’ll pass it by B, but I think he’s pretty attached to Axe…

moooooog35: You would.

Penny: But who will he play with when you’re gone??

PQ: Come and play! They need to be tuckered out…

nuttycow: She is a little adventurous thing, for sure… I foresee many things broken in our future.

Shannon: Make it happen, woman!

Fearless: Who are you kidding. You’ll BE HERE for Christmas.

hannahjustbreathe: It’s only been 12 hours and I’m already sort of looking forward to when they calm down a little…

Molly: Shotgun? No one would have made fun of that kid… no, definitely not…

Malnurtured Snay: Thanks for the litter advice! With two, we’re going to go through a lot… and yes, it is definitely an iPod cord!

Lemmonex: Cathy is HILARIOUS. (Can you smell it? The sarcasm?)

Liz: Amen to that!

Del-V: I’m not saying I’ve cried at that commercial before… I’m also not saying I haven’t.

Deutlich: ANYTIME, darlin! They are here for ya :-)

FallenAngel915: Glad to help your early morning, love.

Christy: My baby, he is creative if nothing else.

peterdewolf: B’s allergic too, but we’re trying to Benadryl our way through it…

failnomore: Fat kittehs can be fun too!

jen – tsk: I love the names Tatty and Barnaby! Priceless.

Mb: Ohh… I’m scared to read…

Caroline: B too… but he’s trying to pull through it! We’re praying for some immunity to kick in.

Cameron: What’s the one from Seinfeld? Googled: Joel Rifkin!

pithycomments: Ooo, thanks! I’ll check it out… anything that minimizes my poop-scooping is welcome.

PorkStar: Thank you!

Life is Wonderful: That’s totally on my list to get- these two would go crazy! Thanks :-)

Megan: Do it! Pictures please!

Ben: I’m really surprised B didn’t suggest Thor, actually.

Jessica: Shoot me your email and I’ll send you ALL the pics! I took about 50 last night ;-)

Bethie: I am so stoked… for reals.

Beach Bum: Oh, awesome! I need to go get some today… we have nothing yet!

notyourplainjane: I’m sure Maxie would LOVE it if we named one after her…

Dmbosstone: They really are, aren’t they.

Alice: He meowed in my ear RIGHT as I read your comment.

Nilsa: Oh no! Well, I don’t know any Murrays, other than my Great Uncle… dammit, you were right! At least Axe is safe.

inkpuddle: I was not kidding… we are crazy and went and did it! And I’m so glad. Enjoy your new babies too!

PLT: My last kitty was named Frank the Tank! Love it!

shakeitgood: Do it! Save a kitteh :-)

SLG: TOONCES. You must now get a kitten and name him that, immediately. And obviously I need to take some funny pics for y’all to caption…

Lexiloo: This awesome adoption org, Homeward Trails: http://www.homewardtrails.org/

liferehab: You should be ;-)

Zipcode: Oh, I totally will! This baby kitten thing is new to me… Thanks for letting me know.

Gladys: *snarfs laughing* Oh lady, you KILL me!

MerEdith: Welcome! Smokey and Bandit- too freaking cute.

A Super Girl: They’re sleeping right now… such little angels.

lisa @ seriously.: You are SO welcome!

Matt: Me, too. Especially Axe.

Kylie: I want to kill them a little already. But JUST A LITTLE.

Svaha: Thanks! And I think you’re right- I’d much rather they played with each other than, say, my shoes…

rondamarie: Thanks, lovey!

The Northerner: Thanks… we’re gonna need it, I think.

Fizzgig: I’m like you- I only pitter patter for critters, not babies. And we definitely needed two :-)

JAG: YES. Come now, please. They are tiring me out! I only have so many toes to nibble on.

los_tartist: They are seriously so cute I kind of want to cuddle a murderer myself.

Amber: Yes! Get him a little baby friend :-)

Kate CH: Ha- yes, these will have to do for me for now too! No babies!

Aritza: Who can hate kittens? NO ONE, that’s who.

shine: But they look so innocent…

BeckEye: I promise. And will do.

Shelly: Oooo, those are good! I can just see a boxer named Killigan!

floreta: Thank you!

Marie: Really. You’ve met B. You should know.

JM: :-)

Julie: You better come quick!

brookem: They’re here for the visiting…

70 Vittoria April 29, 2009 at 2:29 pm

oh. my. god. those are the sweetest kittens i have EVER SEEN!!!!

71 adriana April 29, 2009 at 2:36 pm

Oh my gosh! They are so adorable! And I love that your bf named his kitten Axe Murderer. That is amazing.

72 phampants April 29, 2009 at 2:37 pm

OMFG! THEY ARE PRECIOUS!!!!

My cat is half siamese. He’s adorable.

73 Kristina P. April 29, 2009 at 2:46 pm

I don’t even like cats, but that white one is adorable!

74 lustyreader April 29, 2009 at 2:47 pm

Yay, congratulations on the new additions to your family! I see much fodder for funny posts in the future. Just please don’t use too much LOLcats speak. It give me a headache.

75 bikramyogachick April 29, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Oh my God are they cute. And those eyes on the little girl. I want to kiss them and hug them and squeeze them! :)

76 thebmt April 29, 2009 at 2:53 pm

I’m only commenting because I don’t want to be a turd monkey.

Seriously, while adorable, I couldn’t handle a pet. I’m barely mature enough to take care of myself.

77 Hillbilly Princess April 29, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Axe Murderer. LMAO. Did you settle on Murray or Stanley? (You probably answered that but I’m too busy *lazy* to read all the comments.)

Sincerely,
Mama to Pretty Boy *Fat Ass* Floyd the Cat

78 f.B April 29, 2009 at 3:29 pm

You’re a mom?! Wait. You’re not gonna start drinking less or anything silly like that, right?

79 Kristen April 29, 2009 at 3:37 pm

OMG!!! They are so cute! Can they come with you when you visit Boston!?!? Plzzz!

80 Kellie April 29, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Super cute! Congrats on your new name “Mommy”! :) Haha! And I’d have to get 2 also b/c if I only got 1 I’d feel bad that it was going to be lonely or something. :)

81 Cassie April 29, 2009 at 3:40 pm

They are so cute! I couldn’t have picked just one either :)

82 Liebchen April 29, 2009 at 3:42 pm

They look so cute and innocent! It’s enough to make me want to play with them…and endure the itchy, watery red mess that my eyes will become.

83 FoggyDew April 29, 2009 at 3:48 pm

OK, can’t resist: Nice pussies! Ditto Liebchen, except for the whole wanting to play with them.

84 Karen April 29, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Haha, I’m on the same page as Lemmonex!

I’m outta here if this becomes cat-centric. Cathy, and knitting, optional. ;)

85 Fearless in Toronto April 29, 2009 at 3:55 pm

Re Christmas: Yeah, you’re probably right. Especially given my parents’ taste in wine.

86 theblacktulip April 29, 2009 at 3:57 pm

So cute!!

but…ummmm…you need to invest in some actual cat toys….or at least buy some and then let them play with the bag or receipt they came with…

87 lacochran April 29, 2009 at 3:59 pm

SO, SO CUTE!

In the video, yours has that “How come there’s no litter in the litter box? Guess I’ll pee somewhere else” look. Just sayin…

88 Heather Rose April 29, 2009 at 4:00 pm

At least he’s got an imagination.

My husband wanted to name our kitty “Patrick”. I’m so not kidding. Not a cool boy name like Colin, Harrison or FitzPatrick. Just Patrick.

Yeah. So, I named him Kimchi. ^_^ I win.

89 Dr Zibbs April 29, 2009 at 4:01 pm

Awwww.

90 inkpuddle April 29, 2009 at 4:05 pm

I forgot to give you some unsolicited advice earlier! Spray bottle and human nail clippers will serve you well, though not the scissor-y kind of clippers, the flippy-top, chomp-chomp kind (ha). One to redirect acrobatic stunts in precarious places, the other to handle the snagging, killer kitten claws that leave such pretty marks on your hands…arms…furniture…

Twas all. :)

91 Nikki April 29, 2009 at 4:15 pm

awww, so cute. I will never have a kitten because my B is allergic, or at least that’s what he’s convinced me. I love pets with human names too!

92 fiona April 29, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Charlie Mackenzie: How many people have you brutally murdered?
Harriet Michaels: Well, brutal’s a very subjective word. I mean, what’s brutal to one person might be totally reasonable to somebody else.

B is on his game! LMAO

Congratulations to you both on your new arrivals!
xxxxxF

93 Sr. H April 29, 2009 at 4:25 pm

you’ve already mastered the cute kitty photo…. so awesome! I had a roomie with two cats once. We could never get a good photo of them. Although I’m convinced one thought he was a dog. He would totally obey commands and do tricks. have fun!

94 WickedCourtni April 29, 2009 at 4:30 pm

I wannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

95 WickedCourtni April 29, 2009 at 4:34 pm

Also, I <3 Axe Murderer.

And.

WOOOOOOOOOOOLILU!!!!!!!*throws panties*

96 amindinmotown April 29, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Awwww, very adorable.

I typically hate cats, but the ex and I got two – both kittens – when we moved in together. Our justification for two? When we’re not home, at least they have each other. See? See? It works, right?

97 regardez moi April 29, 2009 at 4:42 pm

AHHHH – they are SOOOO cute. The little tuxedo kitten cat? Matches mine. I have a tuxedo kitten cat, too. Hooray!

98 freckledk April 29, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Thanks Lemmonex! I now have the Andy Samberg Cathy skit stuck in my head.

You and B have some gorgeous pussies. And the cats are pretty cute, too.

99 Hillary April 29, 2009 at 4:50 pm

oh the cuteness! it kills!

100 Belle April 29, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Oh my you most certainly will have your hands full.

I dont know what it is about Tuxedo cats but they are just straight up crazy.

They will play with invisable pieces of paper, insist upon only drinking from the sink and will eventually become so attached to one person that no one else will be able to touch or even look at them with out flipping out. Oh and if it is a female it will certainly be a bitch. lol.

My next kitten will be another tuxedo and although I wont be naming it “axe murderer” trust that B has picked the perfect name.

101 The Vegetable Assassin April 29, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Yep. I am officially mush.

102 Kelly April 29, 2009 at 5:00 pm

SO CUTE!!!! I gave you a shot out today on my blog! :) Had to detail the ol’ hipster thing…

103 Steam Me Up, Kid April 29, 2009 at 5:01 pm

KYUT!!

I can just imagine her with a teeny tiny axe, like, Hiya! Hiya! hacking away at twine and tissues and stuff.

104 Jules April 29, 2009 at 5:04 pm

You HAVE to have two! That way they can play together when you’re away! And they are sooooooooooooooooooooo cute! I love them already!

105 repliderium.com April 29, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Awwww. I love that B is such a push over. The axe murderer name is just so he can keep up appearances of being a tough guy.

106 Miss Scorpio April 29, 2009 at 5:16 pm

They are just too damn cute! Once they get a little older you should pick up some wheat/pet grass and/or cat nip for them.

107 Alana @ The Good Girl Gone Blog April 29, 2009 at 5:24 pm

So cute! I’m glad you got both- we have two kittens at home and they love playing together…sometimes. I so want to come over and play with them! Please- I miss my kitties that are back in Baltimore with my parents haha

108 lucklys April 29, 2009 at 5:30 pm

um, YES! why won’t j let me get one (or five)? oh right, his allergies…yeah, i guess i’d rather have j around than 5 kitties…ugh, the choices we have to make! why is life so fricken hard?

109 Emily April 29, 2009 at 5:41 pm

Me and Mr. Puddy wanna watch a scarrry movie!

Ever seen that Netflix commercial? It’s amazing.

My cats go for walks with my dog. Probably not an option in DC, is it?

110 ~Penny~ April 29, 2009 at 5:47 pm

Aww….BIG step.

I know because I just took it myself. Me and my bf just got a German Shep…

First, pets…then….

111 Sparkling Red April 29, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Wonderful! Kittens are the best. (Although sometimes a tad destructive.) My mom got kittens two years ago and they’re still a handful. She named them Tinker and Doodles. I call them Stinker and The Dude.

112 Margo April 29, 2009 at 6:03 pm

I am violently allergic to the little critters, but my God they are cute. I’ve always wanted one. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’d be the wack job with 25 or 30 of them if I could.

113 Connie April 29, 2009 at 6:11 pm

Awwwwww!!! They are soooo cute! Congrats mom and dad :)

Two kittens are actually better than one. We tried one kitten, and after curtains were pulled down, book shelves emptied, appliances unplugged, furniture knocked over (the seniors in the next apartment thought it was great fun to give us the ‘crash’ report as we arrived home from work each evening) … well, we got our kitten a kitten.

It was our first fur-baby that passed away last weekend :( … sigh… but the sadness is worth the many years of fuzzy love he brought us!

114 justjp April 29, 2009 at 6:21 pm

My heart just melted! This makes me want to get a buddy for my puppy. BTW I almost got tired of scrolling down the comments. Strong build up girl.

115 The Demigoddess April 29, 2009 at 6:35 pm

They’re soo cute!I think you’re boyfriend is very imaginative. I love the nickname “murderer”. It’s so unique. Every other cat is called Kitty or something familiar.

116 Mermanda April 29, 2009 at 6:45 pm

I sense some high-quality lolcats in the making.

Also, I have to ask. Were you able to spell “Diarrhea” on the first try? I decided yesterday that word is pretty much the hardest word to spell in the English language.

Or maybe I’m just dumb.

Yeah.

117 Kendall April 29, 2009 at 7:07 pm

First things out the way, when I see this post’s titles in my GReader I kinda stared at it for a bit trying to be sure it was real.

Not cool. At all.

Axe Murderer is quite possibly the greatest name ever. Especially since it’s a kitten that’s pretty much made of cuteness and fluff.

118 Gabby April 29, 2009 at 7:32 pm

I am not a cat person AT ALL – but those kitties are friggin cute!

119 DocE April 29, 2009 at 7:45 pm

I just love all animal pictures, but these are particularly heart-warming and totally made my day.

120 Kim April 29, 2009 at 7:59 pm

OH MY GOD MY HEART JUST EXPLODED WITH CUTENESS.

God kittens are so cute.

Both of my cats have human names. I like it that way, too.

121 moArdy April 29, 2009 at 8:15 pm

So cute! We went to adopt a kitten last year and ended up with two as well – funny how that happens :)

122 Princess Pointful April 29, 2009 at 8:46 pm

Kitties!
Kitties!
My uterus just kicked a little, in a maternal like fashion.

123 LBluca77 April 29, 2009 at 8:49 pm

Oh my god they are so cute. Seriously I am coming over to hang out with them and to hang out with you too, of course.

124 rambles@25 April 29, 2009 at 9:15 pm

125 Maxie April 29, 2009 at 9:21 pm

I’M GOING TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM!!!

maybe you shouldn’t have me over.

126 rs27 April 29, 2009 at 9:29 pm

Who has cat eyes?

127 Muppet Soul April 29, 2009 at 9:51 pm

THAT IS MY CAT.

Seriously? that black one?

THAT IS MY CAT.

There is not one damn difference. You are copying me Miss Musing style.

warning: That cat may grow up to be fat, and show love by stabbing your achilles tendons.

Just sayin.

(and PS – Bubba’s “okay maybe we can get like, a hamster or something” turned into two cats and a dog)

128 Sandcastle Dreams April 29, 2009 at 9:59 pm

OMG they are adorable!

129 Desiree Aubigny April 29, 2009 at 10:23 pm

oooooooo, I love it! I tried to get my bf to let me get a mini-maltese, I tempted him by saying we could call the 4lb fluff-ball Killer… Didn’t work but I keep hoping.

130 Ashley April 29, 2009 at 10:29 pm

I am so jealous right now. I’d dying for a pet and those two are adorable!

131 LiLu April 29, 2009 at 10:43 pm

Vittoria: Thank you, thank you.

adriana: He is a special one.

phampants: I LOVE Siamese.

Kristina P: Thanks, love ;-)

lustyreader: I promise to hold back, darlin… it will be hard, but I will for you.

bikramyogachick: I have squeezed them many times. It feels good.

thebmt: Congrats, you are NOT a turdmonkey!

Hillbilly Princess: Murray. It’s a family name :-)

f.B: Don’t be ridiculous! We have a picnic coming up… and I will be wasted and dancing in the daylight.

Kristen: I’ll stuff them in my suitcase just for you!

Kellie: Exactly! I don’t want them to be lonely. They’re a good pair… mischievous, but good.

Cassie: Right??

Liebchen: B’s in your boat… he’s suffering through like a champ, though.

FoggyDew: Haha- you are the first and only to crack that one, I think!

Karen: I promise, this will NEVER be a cat blog. Swear on my knitting needles.

Fearless: Ha! I knew it.

theblacktulip: Ha, my iPod cord isn’t a good idea?

lacochran: Oh, I filled it… just in time.

Heather Rose: Kimchi! I love it! So different.

Dr Zibbs: Truly.

inkpuddle: Thank you! All unsolicited advice is wholeheartedly welcomed here.

Nikki: My B is too… there is hope yet…

fiona: Thank you, love! And yes he is ;-)

Sr. H: Cats who think they’re dogs are the bestest- so friendly.

WickedCourtni: Oh, I’m throwing em right back at you, love.

amindinmotown: YES- that is perfect justification! It worked for us…

regardez moi: They’re so stylish, no?

freckledk: THANK YOU for making me google that!

Hillary: I know!

Belle: I am already seeing the crazy…

Veggie Assassin: I win!

Kelly: Aw, thanks love! Preesh :-)

Steam Me Up: I love that the GIRL is named Axe, too.

Jules: You and me both, darlin.

repliderium: Shhhh… I hope he doesn’t read that… tee hee!

Miss Scorpio: Wheat/pet grass? Please elaborate.

Alana: Come over any time ;-)

lucklys: I KNOW! Hopefully this works out…

Emily: No, but I’m going to google it now…

Penny: I know… but we already live together, after all :-) Congrats on yours!

Sparkling Red: Stinker and The Dude! I LOVE it!

Margo: Ha- I would too, if B would let me…

132 Just Playing Pretend April 29, 2009 at 10:52 pm

Let me start this out with a solid cats are cool and you’re cats are the coolest.

Now my thoughts: It’s amazing to me that a little bundle of furrbally wonderment can cause hard ass Lilu to say things like, “Kyootnes,” and “kitteh”. It also turns all your commenters into little puddles of love and gushiness. It’s sweet, adorable, and SSSSOOOOO GGGGREAAAATTTTTT!!!!

I’m sorry. I’m always a smart ass. Don’t be mad.

133 Lana April 29, 2009 at 10:56 pm

love the names :)

i once named a cat ‘ass’ just so i could say ‘anyone wanna pet(scratch/rub) my ass?’

too bad he’s a skinny bag of bones now living at my mom’s house, his glory days are long gone.

134 Ella April 29, 2009 at 10:58 pm

I have only ever given my cats human names: George, Gracie & Robert. Actually, my daughter (7 yrs old at the time) named Robert. All she'd ever known was for a pet to have a human name. To call it Fluffy or Smooshie or some other pet-ish name meant nothing to her. So she picked Robert.

135 The Constant Complainer April 29, 2009 at 11:15 pm

Hi. I’m a first time visitor to your blog.

Punky Bean suggested you and I decided to check your blog out.

I like…

136 Katie April 29, 2009 at 11:30 pm

Kittens are adorable little terrors. My cat used to get his daily workout in at about 3am by running laps around my bed or by dive-bombing my feet under the covers. Awesome.

137 wafelenbak April 29, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh love them!!! Oh, I want to kiss der little fuzzy heads! :)
Yeah…um, my roommate at the time and I went in to adopt one kitten and took her sister too. No regrets 9 years later!

138 Little Ms Blogger April 30, 2009 at 12:03 am

OMG – what cuties! You might want to pursuade B to change his mind on the name. Imagine if AxeMurderer gets out and he’s screaming Axemurderer on the top of his lungs….oh wait, I forgot that no one in your neighborhood would turn their head to look.

I’m just saying, pick a name you can scream in public. My old cat’s name was Static and boy did people stare when I’d scream her name.

139 Katelin April 30, 2009 at 12:17 am

haha that’s hilarious. but axe is such a good nickname. but i guess murderer is a little more fierce.

140 Blaez April 30, 2009 at 12:18 am

Your kitties are so cute!! I got 1 kitty and 2 hamsters. I could eat up the cuteness! lol

141 Kylie April 30, 2009 at 1:06 am

I left you some love on my blog…stop by and pick it up when you have a minute!!

It’s chicken flavored…the kittehs will luv it! ;)

142 Spellbound April 30, 2009 at 1:21 am

My husband calls kittens “the trap”. Your lives will never be the same.
Signed,

144 Smart Mouth Broad April 30, 2009 at 1:39 am

145 Wearing Mascara April 30, 2009 at 2:22 am

146 Amandaaa April 30, 2009 at 2:25 am

147 G April 30, 2009 at 2:30 am

I showed Marmalade (16 years old) the video clip of your cuties. I think she was impressed :-)

148 ♥Caroline♥ April 30, 2009 at 2:41 am

I hear there is something you can pick up at the vet to cut down on what makes us allergic to cats. I would check with a vet.

149 justrun April 30, 2009 at 3:30 am

SO cute. Cute is the most trouble. Worse than alcohol, love, anything. It makes us ridiculous.

150 Sean April 30, 2009 at 3:46 am

Awesome! Congratulations to you and B! My kitten Ziggy has been looking for new kittens online.

151 Sassy Britches April 30, 2009 at 3:50 am

I totally just want to eat Stanley-Murray. A.dor.a.ble.

Nice dig B got in there at the end…just in CASE we weren’t sure…it’s “Murderer.” Do we need a review before the quiz?

152 LiLu April 30, 2009 at 4:30 am

Connie: I definitely think two was the way to go… especially after reading this! I’m so sorry about your little boy :-(

justjp: Aw, it ain’t me… it’s the sweet kitteh faces!

Demigoddess: It certainly is unique…

Mermanda: Yes. But only because of how frequently I use it… I’ll let you marinate on that.

Kendall: Haha, sorry to do it to you again!

Gabby: Thanks!

DocE: Aw, thanks. It’s hard with my crappy old camera ;-)

Kim: I didn’t mean to make your heart asplode! I sowwy.

moArdy: They get you with the “they’ll be lonely…” My heartstrings, they were tugged!

Princess Pointful: I only do that for animals. :-)

LBluca77: Dude, we will throw the biggest East Coast HH ever if you do.

rambles@25: Creepy is right…

Maxie: I know how to distract you, woman.

rs27: I’m on it!

Muppet Soul: Pictures! Pictures! (And we started with a hedgehog…)

Sandcastle Dreams: Truth.

Desiree Aubigney: Keep pushing. Apparently they break after a while…

Ashley: I’d share… but I can’t split them up. :-)

JPP: Never mind. Always love. Your smartass balances me out today.

Lana: That is HILARIOUS, though! Strong work.

Ella: Is she perchance a Twilight fan? ;-)

Complainer: I’m so glad! I heart her too… I’ll be over to yours shortly to pay the same courtesy :-)

Katie: I’m thinking ours are very similar…

wafelenbak: Oh, I hope we can say the same in a decade!

LMB: They’re indoor cats… but it could still happen. Is it bad to yell “Axe”? Probably not in my hood…

Katelin: I will be calling it Axe, despite what he says.

Blaez: Yay for the fuzzies!

Kylie: Aw, thanks, sweets! You just made my day.

Spellbound: FIVE??? Even I draw the line at two (especially in a 900 sf apartment…)

alexa: Shhhh! I didn’t even want people to know he was ever named that!

SMB: Priceless, no?

Wearing Mascara: B is vindicated, it seems.

Amandaaa: Ah, irony. How we love you.

G: Aw, yay! Glad to hear it.

Caroline: Oh, I have the wipes and he’s on Benadryl. We WILL make this work!

justrun: It’s so true… and I’m totally okay with it.

Sean: Ziggy! Love it! Must see pictures…

Sassy Britches: I went with Murray. And yes, he is a master of the dig.

153 Baking With Plath April 30, 2009 at 4:37 am

I don’t know who I love more….your cats, or B.

154 Miss_Nobody April 30, 2009 at 5:15 am

I love human names on cats lol and they are the cutest!!I’m not a cat person but I totally changed my mind :)

155 michelle woo April 30, 2009 at 5:21 am

So so so so cute. I want one! But I’m allergic. WAH.

156 Miss_Nobody April 30, 2009 at 6:41 am

Hi I dropped by again to say that I tagged you
http://ssg1990.blogspot.com/2009/04/kiss-and-tell-volume-2.html

157 Woolly April 30, 2009 at 10:48 am

LOL… I love the fact B named the cat “axe murderer”

My dogs name is Meathead.

158 Blondie April 30, 2009 at 11:18 am

I love the name Axe Murderer, too cute. I am not a cat person but your kittens are adorable.

159 Kristine April 30, 2009 at 12:56 pm

Wow, this is deja vu. My then-boyfriend-now-husband and I got two cats about four years ago. They ended up with the names Mr. Pink and Fluffy Shit. Now they eat all the wires in our house.

Just sayin’.

160 mylittlebecky April 30, 2009 at 1:43 pm

happy (belated) new kitten day! so exciting!

161 insomniaclolita April 30, 2009 at 2:08 pm

But AXE is cuuuteee!

162 lifeintheleftlane April 30, 2009 at 3:57 pm

They are the cutest little kitties! Congrats. It’s probably better than you got 2 so they can entertain each other when you aren’t around.

163 Hanako66 April 30, 2009 at 4:29 pm

omg, they are so cute…I love the names!

164 Stephanie April 30, 2009 at 5:43 pm

OMG! So precious! They are so little. I want one. Except I’m very allergic so that’s not happening.

165 stealthnerd April 30, 2009 at 5:49 pm

omg, those kitties are so freakin cute!!!

166 Miss Scorpio April 30, 2009 at 6:16 pm

You can get wheat grass at Whole Foods on P street. Or you can get pet grass at PetCo or PetSmart. Mine loves it! It keeps their tummies healthy.

167 HeatherFeather April 30, 2009 at 6:20 pm

They’re so cute! I have two myself, but they’re both full grown now. Oh, and a dog. Yeah. They’re a handful! :)
Digging the name Axe Murderer by the way haha!

168 Zandria April 30, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Kittens are cute. Full-grown cats, not so much (I know, that’s just my own, very personal opinion). If I could keep them kitten-size for life, maybe I’d get one, too!

(That is, maybe I’d get one if I didn’t have a roommate who was allergic to animals with fur.)

:)

169 WuTang April 30, 2009 at 11:47 pm

FUCKING CUTE!!! I love kittens!! Axe murderer, I have to admit, is a pretty schway name. What about yours?

170 Ruby May 4, 2009 at 8:38 am

Aaaaaaa!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous right now! I want adorable kittehs! And Murderer looks almost exactly like my childhood kitteh Boots. CUTE!!!

171 ClaireMontgomeryMD May 7, 2009 at 4:16 am

congrats!!! but what happened to getting a fugly? these are so so so cute!

i highly recommend using relatives names (dead or alive) – our last cats were doris and harry after my grandparents.

172 Erin-Dot-D May 10, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Kittens are the awesomest things to ever be put on this planet. Yours are no exeption to that!
woo hoo!

173 Annette R. May 14, 2009 at 11:25 am

These ARE the most adorable kittens in the world. Axe Murderer cracks me up-and I like Axe for short too. What an adorable tux cat. Had a girl tux named Scarlet O’Hara-she gave anyone who came into the house a kiss on the nose. She made non cat people like her. Tuxes rock. The Siamese boy is gorgeous too. Enjoy the adorable badasses.
