(Ed note: Although all three of us hosts agreed to post this, the words originally were Katertot’s and Restaurant Refugee’s. Just wanted to give credit where it’s due. Oh, and also, COME on Sunday!!!)
It’s like this…The Bloggerational Ball Committee has gotten elevenity nine emails from people saying, “Wish we could come, because we heart the Obaminator, but we are broke-ass due to these rough economic times.” And guess what? WE HEARD YOU. The new POTUS and his administration are all about Hope and Change and Egalitarianism and Saving Your 401K. And we’re on board. So, we thought, why not be the ultimate embodiment of that message? Why not show our support of El Presidente via booze and a party that’s open to everybody and most importantly, FREE? As in COSTS YOU NO MONEY!!!!!!
In changing this to a zero cost of admission event, we were unable to rework the arrangement with Bourbon, our original location. No hard feelings towards Bourbon and their management – they remain a great place to get your booze on and soak it up with bite of food – it just didn’t work.
In the Spirit of Obama, we tossed the old game plan and came up with a new one:
We are going to congregate on the second floor of the Reef in our dress up clothes (hells bells we still want you to wear your ball clothes). Katherine is still going to campaign for Ball Queen and will be taking photos for her drunkie documentary. LiLu will be bringing tatertots from home and nomnomnoming away. If you can pry one out of her fists, you can have one. And Restaurant Refugee will be in a tux. And probably a Zorro mask to hide his secret identity. And drinking champagne. The only thing that has changed really is the cost and the location (and the perks, but whatever, the booze will still be flowing).
Come on out and BarRock the Party with us, kittens!

next time, especially if it’s less than 8 months from now, I’ll come to DC for it.
So if I want tater tots, I just search for the girl who looks like Natalie Portman, right?
Lilu, dear, I need you to sit down. Are you sitting? Ok, I have to tell you something.
Tomorrow I’m going to do something. Something big…..
I’m gonna look for a hotel room and I’m gonna look for flights, and if I can find a hotel room and a flight? I’M COMING!!!!!!!
I don’t think I can deal with coming into DC that weekend… i might explode with frustration
WHOA! We may be able to make it, in that case. Still TBD if we want to venture into the city that weekend, but I am excited that this is actually more attainable now!! Look at you all being one with the people!
Well, hellz — now I might just have to come. Admittedly, I’ll be coming after a full day working at Bookstore, so I might be kinda, y’know, tired, but … well, we’ll see. (So, uh, forget about ze fancy clothes … I’m not wearing a tux to work, and I’m certainly not going out again once I get home).
Life On Edge: I’m holding you to that!!
FlipFlops: Yes. Or, as of today… the girl who looks like me.
16 Paws: Please come!!! It’d be such a blast- PROMISE.
Maxie: Aw, come on, where’s your sense of adventure? At least it’s Sunday, not Tuesday…
FattyLumpa: Pretty please with sugar on top???
Malnurtured Snay: You better! And don’t worry about the tux- just get one of those tuxedo shirts and no one will notice, as long as your badass self is there.
yessssssssss! if i can find someone to venture into the city with me (yep, i’m a dc suburbs gal) the weekend before inauguration, that i can trust telling that i’m going to meet a bunch of bloggers i’ve never met before, i will definitely be there!
Venomiss088: YES! You better come, lady!
This sounds like a lot of fun. I’ll try to make it (and RSVP accordingly as soon as I clear my social calendar).
Kat: That would be awesome! Hope you can make it, lady!
A tux shirt? Count yourself lucky if I’m wearing something with a collar.
Malnurtured Snay: No no no, I meant like THIS: http://buyshirtscheap.com/bltuttuteesh.html
Yeah, LiLu … uh, no. For one thing, it’s far too cold to wear a t-shirt. For another thing, I’m pretty broke. For a third thing …
… anyway, with luck I’ll be at the bar around 7:30 and passed out drunk by 8. So look for the passed out drunk guy at the bar.
I’ll be raising a glass in lalaland. Celebrate with spirit though, and I look forward to hearing about the aftermath.
Malnurtured Snay: Sounds like a plan, my dear.
emmajames: We’ll miss you, but next time!
