So, I swear, Bloggerational Ball update coming tomorrow. But there are more important things happening today, no?
I spent yesterday braving the cold to walk down to B’s office building, which just happens to have a spectacular view of the Capitol building and the Inaugural stage. Killer, no? So we braved the crowds and many, many, MANY overexcited vendors selling keychains and T-shirts (how wrong is this, btw?) to climb up to the roof and catch the bird’s eye view. You know, before the snipers got there.
So we headed down 7th and then walked up Pennsylvania Ave towards the Capitol… where we crossed paths with the only 14 people in the world (from Kansas, allegedly?) who are pissed about today’s Inauguration…
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Honestly, it was just funny. Even the tourist bus stopped to take a picture of the crazies. Obama is the antichrist because he believes in the gays and women’s rights, apparently.
ANYHOO.
Here’s a pic of just one of the dozens of trucks we saw holding fences to blockade the streets for today…
Moving along… so we got to B’s building, and were lucky enough to be able to get up on the roof. The pics speak for themselves…
Pretty freaking cool, no?
We were joined by a lovely friend, and it couldn’t have been a more enjoyable afternoon. We Was THERE, bitches! Even if it was the 19th, not the 20th… although being down there yesterday? DEFINITELY convinced us that the right thing to do today is watch everything up close and personal on the big screen, from our super comfy couch, with coffee and Kahlua.
Mimosas to come with the Presidential Oath.
Happy Inauguration Day, everyone! It is truly a new era.

The pics are great, making me wish I was there. Although we had our doubts in the beginning (still love Hil) I think this was the right direction for America. Have fun your couch while I’m working (or watching it all from CNN streaming live…whatevs.)
Ok I actually have to watch it streaming from FOX because stupid work is blocking the CNN feed…I feel like I’m cheating on my party…and I hate Sheperd Smith. Don’t tell anyone.
How cool that you went the day before! That was perfect.
Kansas LOSERS. God hates all nations? Really. How very Christian.
Happy Inauguration Day!
Whoaaaa awesome view!
You know the bright side of watching this on CNN or something, especially if you live in DC? You can honestly say you were in DC to watch Obama’s inauguration live.
Wow what a view and look at you
All nice and warm and snuggly!
Viva la Jesus.
Kidding, kidding. This is an awesome day.
Wait. Wait.
God hates all Nations?!
WTF?
I don’t think this is the point of your post, but… I like your pink coat!
Those haters are from the vile Westboro Baptist Church. I guess they took the day off from picketing at the funerals of soldiers killed in the Iraq War, believing this to be more of “God’s judgment” on America.
Whats wrong with Obama dunking? Don’t hate the player hate the game, yo.
Saw that on tv once.
Kbo: I can’t believe you had to watch Fox! “We distort, You abide.”
Kate: It was cold, but GREAT.
Kate: No kidding. Asshats.
BWP: I know, I’m so jealous. That’s where he EATS LUNCH when it’s warm.
Malnurtured Snay: I was a mile or so away, in fact… but very, very warm.
Fiona: Snuggly… but not SNUGGIE. Dammit!
Lemmonex: It’s a bit much, agreed. But still way freaking cool.
Deutlich: Obviously. Karma’s a bitch… they’ll get theirs.
FlipFlops: RIGHT?? I freaking LOVE that coat. And there is never, ever a wrong time for a compliment.
Herb: Jeebus. They’re worse than I thought. Well, at least if God strikes anyone down, it’ll be them!
rs27: Oh, come on. It’s a little wrong… funny, but wrong.
oh man that tee-shirt is wrong… I guess it would even worse on a snuggie though.
happy inauguration day to you too!
I watched as the helicopter left for Texas. It almost made me cry for joy…
Yup…
(This morning in bed)
Me: “Don’t you wish we could have been there and taken the kids to see it?”
JD: “Yeah… kinda.”
Me: “Yeah, laying in bed all warm and snuggly is definintly much better then mashed, pissed, and freezing.”
JD: “And the view is prooobaaably better too.”
Hope your day was as warm and snuggly as ours! Good pictures btw… and I’m very sad to say that my family is origionally from Kansas (Then again… that sign and attitude is one of the reasons I never really visit either!)
I can’t believe I’ve been in town long enough to remember boycotting Bush’s first inauguration. I mean, I wasn’t INVITED… but still.
So awesome!
As we walked by the angry people with the “Homo sex is a sin” sign, two guys jumped up in front of them and started making out hardcore. The look on the angry sign peoples’ faces was classic.
Mmmmm… coffee and kahlua…
Looks pretty freakin’ spectacular, my dear. Having grown up in Kansas and then attending college in Topeka, I’m all too familiar with the little protesters you had the pleasure of seeing. Here’s the website…http://www.godhatesfags.com/.
That is very COOL! How very exciting to be so close to the whole thing.
