Ripping the Band-Aid Off: ZOWWWCHIEEEE

by rachaelgking on November 14, 2008

After biting my lip and stressing all week, I finally bought some damn chapstick told my boss I’m leaving. After he cried softly in the fetal position and we talked him down from the window ledge, he ultimately said he was happy for me and would somehow manage to survive. He’s honestly been nothing but stellar to me, and I hate to leave him in the lurch, but he couldn’t possibly have expected me to rot away here much longer, truth be told.

So, upon my return from MEETING THE PARENTS over Thanksgiving (no of course I’m not nervous, it’s me after all…what’s not to love? Shut yo mouf!), I will begin anew at my fantastic and lovely new jobby job, where I will hopefully not want to poke my eyes out with the various sharp instruments on my desk when stupid, stupid people ask me stupid, stupid questions. Because the people at my new job are not stupid. They are smart and worldly and well-spoken and they know what “technology” and “computers” are, and even how to TURN THEM ON AND DO STUFF. Crazy talk, I know.

Also, since I will be working with intelligent, accomplished people instead of bumbling fools, it is conceivable that I will even be (gasp) challenged. Yikes, people… I might actually have to (other word for sharp intake of breath) use my brain a wee bit.

Because lately? This is how I’ve been, ahem, stretching my mind:

If you ever played Mario? You will SO thank me.

Happy Friday!

I freakin love that game…but I probably shouldn’t be playing it at work. Oh well. I probably shouldn’t be reading blogs at work either.

Is this one of those things where I’m the last to know? I don’t even care, it’s worthy. And you can play it all you want after you put your two weeks in! Woot!

Best. Game. Ever.

OK, maybe best free game ever.

Don’t worry, one day you will come to think of your new colleagues as bumbling fools. It should take about a week or so.

See, that didn’t hurt as much as you thought it would, did it?

Sounds like the new job will be a great (and welcome) change. Hooray! :)

Thank you for giving me another thing to do at work other than doing actual work. This game rocks my box.

I can’t wait for your Meet The Parents post!

That game just saved my Friday. Bless you.

Good for you LiLu. Although this isn’t quite the case for you anymore, the best days at work are the ones after you’ve accepted a new job, but have yet to tell your boss this is the case.

Have fun in your last two weeks and remember, clean out your desk the day before you leave. That way it’s a clean break on your last day. You walk out and you’re done.

Good luck.

Fearless: I fear your words are true, but I still don’t think it could be nearly as bad as these fools.

Zandria: Thanks! I’m stoked, fo shiz.

Jules: Let’s just hope it’s not Ben Stiller-esque…

Katherine: I’m here to serve.

Foggy: Oh, believe me, I milked it. And by “milked it”, I of course mean, “am a chicken-shit and waited until the last possible minute because it makes me sad in the pants when people are mad at me.”

After rotting here with the good surgeon for almost two years, I finally have an appointment to talk to the VP of the new children’s hospital to “see where my skills fit their needs.” Thank god.

Although I’m scared shitless.

Kate: Take a shot of tequila. And bring cookies for everyone. You’ll be fine ;-)

Congrats on talking to your boss. That’s kind of a big scary thing in my book. I think that’s part of teh reason I’ve spent seven years with my current employer…

Does this mean no more last minute lunch dates??

My life is over.

Kristin: If you get yourself a new one, you’ll HAVE to. That’s the only reason I did!

Caitlin: It’s not too far away. Lunchies will still be doable! Luff yoU!
