YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

So, not to steal your thunder, mother of my future children, BUT…..

I have a new job!!!

Not of the office variety, unfortunately… still thinking on that one. But I’m finally going to free of the corporate hell that is my night job.

No more horrific clientele. No more menus of 25 foo-foo drinks to learn. No more “pour tests” every time I walk in the door, even if we’re SLAMMED with happy hour and people are yelling for a beer.

No more getting “written up” if I’m 5 minutes late because I literally sprint from one job to the next and am on the Metro for most of that precious half an hour, and the trains were delayed.

No more “Let me get a…” while your back is half turned to me and you’re on your cell phone. No more “I don’t like this. Can I have something else”, after I make you a perfect $10 mojito with fresh lime juice, and you don’t like it because you’re used to the sugary vomitousness that is Rose’s.

No more corporate managers breathing down my neck, berating me every time I get a shift covered to get a break from my usual 60-hour work week.

Within a few weeks, I will be working in one of the most beautiful bars I’ve ever seen. Working for an owner that, after meeting him for just an hour, I admire and trust. Working with bartenders who’ve been at their respective jobs for YEARS prior to this, and know their way around a well-crafted martini. Working in a charming and up-and-coming neighborhood, where our clientele is guaranteed to be local and, eventually, familiar.

The bar is 30-feet of breath-taking mahogany, and there isn’t much else in the joint. Besides the 6 enormous, framed, flat screen tvs lining the wall behind the bar, that is.

AND I’m taking 2 weeks “vacation” in between, so I’ll have a couple of normal 40-hour work weeks! (Unheard of in my world.) I’m going to cook dinner, have the energy to exercise, give my man a back rub for once, instead of the other way around.

Teh awesome.

That was fast! Congratulations!

Velvet probably wants to know if they have a Megatouch.

Congratumalations.

I have work to do. I have hundreds of clients to deal with, and just to be clear, I don’t care about any of ‘em. They’re alllll just a number, like wife number 1, and therapist number 7. Good day!

You’re going to cook dinner? My jaw is on the floor. Do TV dinners qualify as cooking?

Congrats on the new job btw. What beers do they have on tap there? I need some incentive to come into the city. Being that I’m so far out in the ‘burbs and all.

You know I will be there as soon as you settle in. Congrats…I am really happy for both you and B… You are going to be amazed how much getting this monkey off your back will change your outlook on life.

FreckledK is a mind-reading whore! That was my first thought: “Yeah yeah yeah, new job is great but what about the Megatouch!!!”

The man and I are trying to score one on ebay. It’s not going well but I have faith.

Okay, where is the new bar?

Frecks: Ha. No megatouch in this place, I’m afraid- it wouldn’t go with the decor…

66: Just so you know, your girlfriend, when she was in the mailroom, offered to blow me. True story.

Zach: I can cook… I just prefer it when professional chefs do it FOR me. Spider pork, spider pork…

Lem: You bettah be there with bells on, woman. I’m not actually sure who’s happier about it, me or him… FREEDOM!!!

Velvet: Sorry about the megatouch! It’s in Cap Hill… I think you should stay on the hunt for one of your very own. It could happen.

66: Ha, blogger happy hour my first night at the new joint, fo shiz!

Ah, Shannon… you are truly a bartender’s dream… ;-)

Congrats! Those up-and-coming neighborhood bars are the best! Corporate sucks big time.
