Scattered Thoughts

by Rachael King on February 26, 2008

I hate when you meet someone fantastic, that you absolutely click with 100%… you laugh harder than you can remember in years, you love spending time with them, you can be a complete dork and they not only get it, they extrapolate on it… you were obviously made for each other.

Yet no matter what you do, how you try, drink ferociously, and wish otherwise, you simply are not even slightly attracted to them… ah cruel fate.

Chemistry is a funny thing. And even though we all know that 99.5% of the few relationships that even make it past those first tumultuous 4,7,10 years, end up in a no man’s land where sex and desire (for each other) are a thing of the past. Therefore, sexual attraction should not necessarily (logically) dictate who you choose for a life partner, other than to instigate the desire to procreate.

Knowing this, I still could never imagine being in a placid, boring friendship-marriage where if we both were to wake up at 6 in the morning, one of us perhaps from a torrid dream, we would not AT LEAST have a quickie. How sad would that be?

Or, will it be…?

Damn you, societal norms. Somehow I will escape…

You bring up good points here…

I have totally thought about the same things…although, not about my own relationship of course!
